Opportunity for the Congregation

St. John's is forming a Faith Based Reentry team for women recently released from Mitchellville Correctional Institution. Anyone in the congregation may join this team, men and women. There is training for the team before meeting with the woman. Women at the Well is a congregation of, by and for the women incarcerated at Iowa Correctional Institution for Women in Mitchellville. A Faith-Based Reentry Team is a group of 5-7 people trained from one or more congregations in an area, who agree to meet weekly with a recently released woman. Teams focus on four main areas: mentorship, accountability, goal setting, and faith formation. The team is to be supportive and nurturing while holding her accountable for her actions.  With the team’s prayerful encouragement and help she can grow and develop healthy adult relationships, while maximizing her chances of successfully reintegrating into the community. The statistics for success for a woman who has a support team are in the 90th percentile. If you are interested in being a part of this team please contact the Team Coordinators Lorraine Wilbur ( or Susan Ging (
