Opportunities Through the ELCA

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), the denomination to which St. John’s belongs, sponsors ministries both in the U.S. and abroad that address hunger, poverty, injustice, and disasters.  Financial support for these ministries is always encouraged at St. John’s, and there are often opportunities to engage directly through projects, domestic disaster relief teams, and other activities.  To learn more about the ELCA’s ministry, explore the website, www.elca.org.  Another partner with whom St. John’s participates directly through the assembly of quilts and kits is Lutheran World Relief, www.lwr.org.  And several members of St. John’s are active participants in the advocacy work of Bread for the World, www.bread.org.
