Midweek Music Series

For over 20 years, St. John’s Lutheran Church has hosted a Midweek Music Series, showcasing the best in music that Des Moines has to offer! Each week at 12:05, a 30 minute concert, free and open to the public, takes place in the beautiful, stained glass-lit neo-gothic sanctuary located on the corner of sixth and Watson Powell. After the concert, audience members are invited to head over to Neumann to meet with friends over a light lunch priced at $8 a person.

April 17th Iowa City High Concert Choir, an auditioned, select mixed choir (grades 11-12); Tyler Hagy, director

April 24th Joel Gettys and Grace Johnson, vocalists; Michael Elsbernd, piano accompanist, performing Broadway melodies

May 1st Rob Lumbard, guitarist, singer, songwriter; showcases jazz and blues standards, and his own tunes

May 8th Christina Deeds, French horn; Michael Elsbernd, piano accompanist
