Farm to Table Dinner
When: Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 5:30 pm
Where: Wallace House, 756 16th Street, Des Moines, IA 50314. We may be seated outside on the covered porch.
The deadline to register is July 9, 2023
Max number of attendees is 20,
13 attendees paying $10 needed to hold the reservation
Cost: $10/per person is required at time of registration. Each attendee will be responsible for their meal costs. The registration fee will be applied to the total cost.
Menu prices range as follows: Appetizers: $13-$16; Shared Vegetable Sides: $7-$9; Entrees: $21-35; Desserts: $8-$10 and Beverages: $3-$4
On August 10 the menu will be emailed to those who have registered. Meal selections and final payment are due August 27. Space is limited to 20 guests.
Inspired by the Wallace family legacy, the Wallace Centers of Iowa connects food, land and people through a variety of programs and services including a unique dining experience at our Farm to Table Thursday Dinners.
The Wallace family once owned both WCI’s historic sites.
Henry Wallace served as the 33rd Vice President of the United States under President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Chef Katie Porter, one of the Iowa Restaurant Association’s 2022 “40 Women to Watch”, takes our farm-fresh produce, adds ingredients from other Iowa farms, and transforms them into satisfying dishes.
Each week’s menu includes a special appetizer, entree, and dessert inspired by the farm.
Posted menus are subject to change slightly depending on the weekly harvest. Bring your own wine or beer; no corkage fee.
