For over 20 years, St. John’s Lutheran Church has hosted a Midweek Music Series, showcasing the best in music that Des Moines has to offer! Each week at 12:00, a 30 minute concert, free and open to the public, takes place in the beautiful, stained glass-lit neo-gothic sanctuary located on the corner of sixth and Watson Powell. After the concert, audience members are invited to head over to Neumann to meet with friends over a light lunch priced at $10 a person.
April 30th – Rob Lumbard: A seasoned guitarist, songwriter, and singer, Rob Lumbard refined his craft in Des Moines before touring the Midwest for over a decade. His soulful sound and masterful storytelling make for an unforgettable performance.
May 7th – Andrew Hoyt: A full-time touring singer/songwriter known for his engaging live shows, Andrew Hoyt continues to rise in the music scene. Following his headline performance at Wooly’s on April 25th for his EP release, he brings his folk-pop-acoustic fusion to St. John’s.
May 14th – Noah Smith: A gifted pianist, Noah Smith presents a mesmerizing performance of Erik Satie’s works, capturing the composer’s eccentric yet deeply expressive style. Audiences will experience the delicate harmonies and dreamlike atmosphere of Satie’s iconic compositions.
May 21st – Scott Davis & The Drama Kings: Specializing in the vibrant sounds of New Orleans, this dynamic group brings the music of legends like Louis Armstrong and Dr. John to life. With Scott Davis on cornet, bass, and vocals, John Mattingly on keyboards and vocals, and Bob Brown on drums and backup vocals, their set blends traditional Dixieland, blues, jazz, and energetic instrumental performances.
